The Matilda Sweater is knitted from the top down with raglan increases. The work is divided for the sleeves and body, and these are completed separately and finished with ribbing. Stitches are picked up for the neck ribbing, which is knitted in the round and bound off. We have chosen to include two different descriptions in the pattern, to suit both beginners and experienced knitters. If you want to knit a simple, beginner-friendly pattern, choose version 1. If you want a well-shaped pattern with nice details, choose version 2. The difference between the versions is a raised back neck using German short rows and the ribbing. The simple version has no raised back neck and standard ribbing. The more advanced version has a raised back neck and a bit more detail in the ribbing.
